Let's start
I have to confess. Although I’ve been making music for about 20 years now, I’ve been ignoring music theory all this time and I still don’t know the notes on the keyboard. I mean I know the basics, I know the order of the notes and I know where to find C on the keyboard, but each time I have to count from C. It works when I do stuff by myself, but slows things down when I try to communicate with other musicians.
To fix this I started making a game to teach and train myself. And, to be honest, I started seeing my progress even after I played a few times just to debug it.
At the moment it’s pretty simple reaction game with a focus on quickly recalling the notes, just to test out the idea. If the idea catches on, this can later become something like “Duolingo, but for music”.
HARE is available for the desktops (Mac, Windows and Linux), Android, and can be played right in the browser, which seems to work on iOS devices as well.
I recommend playing it on devices with touch screen, as it’s more fun :)
